Touch Screen

PCAP Touch Panel

Projective Capacitive Touch Screen
  • • Projected capacitive supports multiple touches, thus supports various elaborate inputs.
    • Projected capacitive has relatively long life because it has no moving parts in operation.
    • Projected capacitive has high durability.
    • Sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted. If sensitivity is adjusted to high level, the touch screen can be operated over a cover glass or cover plastic sheet. These cover sheets provide additional durability, environmental resistance, and a lot of flexibility in design.
    • If sensitivity is increased, projected capacitive can be operated with gloved fingers.
    • Projected capacitive touch screen is excellent at optical property.
    • Projected capacitive responds to light touch. No pressure force is needed for detection.
    • Projected capacitive requires an advanced technology to measure electrostatic capacitance and achieve precise locational information from it. Unlike resistive technology, it does not work simply by connecting a touch screen with a controller sourced from somewhere. A projected capacitive touch screen and controller need to be designed together.
    • Projected capacitive is susceptible to electrical noise due to its detection mechanism. Noise from LCD is especially influential to the sensor. Recently, various methods are developed to improve tolerance for noise.
    • Projected capacitive requires fine pattering, thus takes high processing cost.
    • The notable application of projected capacitive is smartphone. Projected capacitive has also been dominant in personal devices such as portable PC, mobile game, and portable audio player.
    • Although it is not introduced here, wire sensing method is superior in environment resistance, thus strong at raining, wind, and temperature change. It can be operated either by bare hand or gloved hand. From these strong points, wire sensing technology is used for digital signage, and other outdoor terminals.
    • Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch screens offer the user friendly multi-touch experience, associated with smartphones and tablets, operating with very light touch through a highly durable glass surface.
    • Projected capacitive touch screen kits provide a high quality Glass on Glass sensor construction bundled with a discrete controller board, for commercial applications.
    • PCAP innovations include a patented group controller, where a common controller serves a range of screen sizes to simplify design and reduce inventory costs. The controller offers USB-HID compatibility with major operating systems, simplified product development and accelerated time to market.

Optically Bonded / Non-Optically Bonded
  • After the touch panel and LCD panel passed all the tests and criteria, it moves on to the next stage to be combined together into the display screen. This process can be either done with or without the silicone glue, thus resulting in either an optically bonded device or a non-optically bonded device.

Own silicone glue formula is used to optically bond the selected device. This glue is specifically designed for this purpose in order to meet the highest industry standards in the market.

Display Screen
  • After this process of combining the touch panel with the LCD panel a final quality control check is performed to make sure the final result is an A+ quality panel.

Once this is done, the display screen can be assembled into our renowned faytech devices according to standard specifications or customized projects to meet the customer’s requirement.

Ruggedizing of the display
  • Filling the air gap with silicone gives additional strength to environmental forces which otherwise could break the glass. At the same time the silicones elasticity is still able to absorb the shocks

Own Silicone Glue
  • Silicone-glue formula has been specifically created for this optical bonding technology to deliver the best results. It is a pourable, addition-curing silicone rubber that vulcanizes at room temperature to a very soft silicone gel with physical properties making it extremely suitable for optical bonding applications.

The glue passed several intensive environmental tests to meet national and international standards, as noted in the table below.

Increase the overall brightness
  • Putting a cover glass on top of a display reduces the products brightness due to reflections of the light coming from the backlight as well as the glasses transmission (usually about 98%). With the optically bonded units, this reflection does not occur, thus increasing the brightness of the display by about 10%.

    (100% - 4%) * 98% = 94.08% (100% - 4% - 4% - 4%) * 98% = 86.70%

No fogging or dust within the display
  • If a device is not optically bonded, there is always a small air gap between the touch panel and LCD panel Within this gap condensation or humidity could occur due to deviations in temperature or air pressure, especially when the system is sealed and unable to circulate air. The same problem could occur with dust in the system for devices that do not require an airtight sealing. With optical bonding, this would not be possible, because the air gap is filled with the silicone glue.
